London Medical Heart

With a long-standing international reputation as the specialist clinic for the detailed assessment of cardiovascular risk, London Medical heart provides expertise in general cardiology including coronary artery disease, cardiac rehabilitation, valve disease, rhythm abnormalities and heart failure. The clinic also has expertise and facilities for comprehensive risk assessment and advice on lipid disorders backed up by a specialist clinical nutritionist, specialist nurses, echocardiographers and cardiac technicians for same day treadmill exercise electrocardiograms and echocardiography. The use of the intima media assessment of the common carotid arteries, the gold standard for the long term follow up of arterial diseases, was pioneered in this clinic in the UK and we now have experience in the use of this test for more than 10 years.

Patients are frequently referred to cardiologists at London Medical for specialist opinions after the detection of high cholesterol levels, high levels of triglycerides, diabetes or high blood pressure. Many people are referred because they are responding inadequately to treatment or do not tolerate the drug regimen selected by their GP. The Heart Protection Plan is a structured review for busy professionals which aims to identify and treat risk factors for heart disease - including many not routinely available.
