Professor Galton is a consultant physician and Emeritus Professor at St. Bartholomew’s and London Hospital Medical College. He was also physician-in-charge of medical ophthalmology at Moorfield’s Eye Hospital. He has doctorates in medicine (M.D.) and science (D.Sc.) from London University. He has been chairman of Clinical Science, chairman of HEART UK., chairman of Clinical Lipids of the Royal Society of Medicine, chairman of the Lipoprotein Section of the Association for the Study of Diabetes and Grants Committee Member of Diabetes UK. He is a Fellow of two Royal Colleges (Physicians, London; and Ophthalmology, London). He has published more than 250 peer reviewed research papers and his recent books include: Hyperlipidaemia in Practice; Lipids and Cardiovascular Disease; Diabetes Mellitus: Aetiology and Metabolic Aspects and Dyslipidaemia.
