The consultants working within London Medical’s Ophthalmology Clinic boast an extensive range of expertise when it comes to carrying out eye tests, making diagnoses, and managing the treatment of eye disorders. Although the Ophthalmology Clinic is particularly strong in retinal vascular disease, it also provides expertise in cataracts, glaucoma, uveitis and conditions for which specialist oculoplastic surgery is required. There is a full suite of supporting services including lasers for photodynamic therapy, retinal disease and YAG laser treatments as well as all the equipment necessary to carry out extensive ophthalmic investigations. We offer medical photography for same day fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, computerised visual field analysis, and specialist optometry. A Consultant Ophthalmologist service is available daily.

Professor David O’Brart
Professor O'Brart trained in corneal and small-incision cataract surgery. He spent two years at the United Medical and Dental Schools, University of London, and received a Doctorate in Medicine.
Mr Haris Papanikolaou
Mr Papanikolaou conducts ophthalmology clinics and sub-speciality clinics in retina. He trains junior ophthalmologists, and develops AMD services at North Middlesex University Hospital.
Professor Sobha Sivaprasad
Professor Sivaprasad is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and King’s College Hospital, London. She is also a Reader at King’s College London.
Professor Adnan Tufail
Professor Tufail is a leading UK ophthalmic surgeon. He is the clinical and research lead at Moorfields Eye Hospital for age-related macular degeneration, and has worked as a consultant here since 2002.
Mr Jonathan Dowler
Mr Jonathan Dowler was a consultant in Medical Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and a Clinical Director and Governor. He retired from the NHS in 2012 to take up private practice in retinal disease.
Mr Praveen Patel
Mr Patel has gained an international reputation for providing excellence in patient care with macular disease, and is also actively involved in research for finding novel therapies for the condition.
Mr Robin D Hamilton
Mr Hamilton is a consultant ophthalmologist at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. He specialises in diabetic retinopathy, AMD, retinal vein occlusions, inflammatory eye disease, and cataract surgery.
